Blog/Nikkomi-Misto] Food that doesn't look good looks good to bar lovers! Popular Bar Marumi in Musashikosugi

Musako in Kawasaki City

Musashi-Kosugi, commonly known as "Musako," is where the Tokyu Toyoko Line and JR Musashino Line intersect. Here comes Musako! The issue of both Musashi-Koganei and Musashi-Koyama being called Musako by locals has been a hot topic for some time. So, what I'm curious about is the distance between Musashi-Kosugi and Musashi-Koyama. It's about 5-6km in a straight line. It's not that far, so I wonder what the people in Jiyugaoka and Denenchofu, which are in between, think about "Musako."

Exciting appearance

Anyway, this is Marumi. Founded in 1964 (Showa 39), it's almost 60 years old. Its mysterious exterior has an entrance on the side of the alley, and the illuminated sign with the character for "taste" in a circle above it shines brightly in the summer night sky.

Let's go inside Marumi store

The spacious kitchen has eight comfortable tables and a tatami room in the back, creating a very neat layout.

A refined menu

The menu is simple. It's run by two people, and the size of the place means there aren't any elaborate menu items, which can be a bit overwhelming.

Start with fried tofu and bottled beer

First, I ordered fried tofu (280 yen) and a bottle of beer (large bottle 590 yen). This price includes tax, so I'm happy with the contents.

Small sardines

Next up is the half-sized small sardines (140 yen). The small sardines come with vinegar, so you can dip them in it, or pour soy sauce over them for a freestyle meal. This completely unglamorous shape actually looks great on bar lovers.

Kikumasamune chilled sake

The sign outside said "Nihonmori" (Japanese size), but I chose "Kiku Masamune" (330 yen). These snacks go perfectly with a little sake.

word used after one has been treated (esp. used after a meal)

Well, this is fine. I really enjoyed drinking it. The vinegar and sake are in the same cup, so be careful not to accidentally sip the vinegar. Thank you for the meal!
