White Hoppy was born in 1948. 44 years later, in 1992, Dark Hoppy was born at the suggestion of the president of Tatsuya in Ebisu. Development took about 10 years, and in the early stages they tried and tested what type of dark beer it should be, but they noticed that many people enjoy half plain and half dark at beer halls. They imagined a dark type that could be mixed with the classic Hoppy, and created a dark beer with a moderate aroma and a balance of sweetness and bitterness to suit the delicate palates of Japanese people.
