Stretching approximately 12 kilometers along the coast from Nishinomiya City in Hyogo Prefecture to Oishi in Nada Ward, Kobe City, this is one of Japan's leading sake-producing regions, consisting of five areas: Nishigo, Mikagego, Uozakigo, Nishinomiyago, and Imazugo, and boasts the world's largest sake production volume. Sake made using medium-hard water called Miyamizu is characterized by its powerful flavor and aroma, and is said to have supplied 80% of the sake consumed in the Edo period.
