As Japanese whiskey becomes more popular, so too does the number of counterfeits. Counterfeits are particularly likely to circulate through consumer (C2C) apps and auctions, and some clever counterfeits are made using empty bottles. To avoid counterfeits, it is recommended to purchase from official shops run by companies or physical stores. Official shops have labels and support systems in place in accordance with the Specified Commercial Transactions Act, reducing the risk of buying a counterfeit product. On the other hand, C2C transactions are considered high risk because it is difficult to guarantee quality.
