Minamisuna "Hyotan"
My beloved Minami-SunaYamashiroya"Hyotan" is a restaurant that I learned about from a black belt. It's a 15-minute walk from Nishi-Oshima and a fairly short distance from Minami-Sunamachi. It's definitely worth the walk, and is a long-established izakaya loved by locals.

Although the exterior has been renovated and is brand new, the impressive storefront, with its large noren curtain, the store name written on a single board, and the all-black neon sign, makes it clear that it is a famous restaurant even without going in. Just as I expected, once I stepped through the noren curtain, I was greeted by an attractive scene bustling with older men and women.
Shochu highball
It is served inside the bar with bottled carbonated drinks from Drink Nippon.

An ideal chuhai scene that chuhai lovers will love.
Surf clam sashimi
This is a beautifully presented dish featuring auspicious red and white surf clams.

All for just 450 yen! You can see for yourself the quality that is recognized by the discerning Minamisuna homies.
Sanma Nanbanzuke
Nanbanzuke (pickled saury) made with almost the entire fish. You can eat the bones too, making it a calcium-packed dish that will leave you feeling satisfied and blow away any worries you may have.

Whiskey Highball
In a downtown area where balls are the norm, I ordered the unusual Whiskey.

This rare whiskey highball is served without ice, in the "downtown style." The combination of whiskey mixed with Azuma carbonated water is irresistible, and I found myself grinning as I continued drinking.

Look! This photo of Azuma Tansan and Drink Nippon together is so appealing you'll want to take a photo of them side by side. This collection of bottled carbonated drinks makes me feel so happy to live in Tokyo.

Founded in 1949 (Showa 24), the restaurant is currently run by the second-generation owner and the young head chef, the third-generation owner. Even though it was my first time here, I felt reassured, thinking, "I'm sure it will be fine for the next few decades."
It was a bar that made me want to come back again, even if it meant walking from the station!
