[New Year's Special] The popular program "Yoshida Rui's Bar Wanderings New Year's Special" goes on a bar tour of Okinawa and also visits the bar of actor Ono Machiko!
BS-TBS's popular program "Yoshida Rui's Bar Wanderings" will be broadcast as a two-hour special on New Year's Day 2026.
This time, the setting is the tropical island of Okinawa. To celebrate the registration of traditional Japanese sake brewing as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, bar poet Yoshida Rui travels from Naha to Nakijin Village in search of fine sake and island cuisine. Highlights include a tour of Shuri Castle, which has just completed its exterior reconstruction, exploring the secret sake breweries at the long-established sake brewery Zuisen, and enjoying freshly brewed beer at the Orion Beer Factory.
The biggest highlight will be a visit to the restaurant of actress Machiko Ono, who moved to Nakijin Village and is now the proprietress of Showa Izakaya Kitayama Shokudo. This will be the first time we've seen her working as a proprietress, and there will also be a conversation about her honest thoughts on moving to Okinawa and living a dual-base life. The show will air from 7pm on Thursday, January 1, 2026 (national holiday). It's a sake trip packed with the charms of Okinawa, perfect for kicking off the new year.
