Chiba's local stew

Doteyaki, Nakamijiru, Otaguri, Dengaku...

There are "local stews" all over Japan, and each stew is deeply connected to the history of the area, with ingredients, seasonings, and other food cultures thrown into one big pot and simmered for many years.

A new "local stew" has emerged in Chiba Prefecture and is about to spread.

That is "Heavy"is!

Soga "Yama-chan"

In SogaYama-chanThe current third-generation chef is a skilled chef who handles all cooking, including grilled dishes and sashimi, and is also responsible for serving customers at the counter and handling the bill.

Chiba's local stew "June"

The signature dish "June" has been served since the time of the first owner, the grandfather, and is an original stew made by Yamachan that has maintained its flavor for three generations, even as suppliers such as butchers and miso makers have changed since then.

Now, the Masuyama group, which has several stores mainly in the Chiba Bay area, also has Jyune on their menu, and it is now spreading throughout Chiba Prefecture as a secret "local stew."

This is a special stew that I visit several times a year!

The origin of "June"

The tofu and stewed offal are cooked in separate pots and then layered on top of each other on a plate, hence the name "June." A large square of tofu is layered with a rich stewed small intestine-based offal, and then topped with a generous amount of onion, creating a trio.

When the timing is right, various cuts of yakiton meat such as pork belly, tripe, and tongue are added to double the flavor.

Add chili peppers to taste, and the onions will gradually blend into the stew, creating a complex gradation of flavors. You'll enjoy it until the very end without getting bored.

Sanryu Hoppy

What's great about Yamachan is that they don't just serve double-layered beer. Their Sanrei Hoppy is served in a freshly chilled mug, and the quality is so high that you'll want to order both the black and white.

The inside is Sanraku Shochu, which pairs incredibly well with Hoppy!

Once the tiered noodles and meal menu items are gone, Yamachan quickly puts up the curtain. Be sure to stop by early to try the original tiered noodles, which have become a local delicacy representative of Chiba!
