Sapporo Third Mokkiri Center
When you think of Sapporo, you think of the Third Mokkiri Center.

It started as a corner bar in a liquor store in Otaru in 1926 (the first year of the Showa era), then moved to Sapporo as a standing bar. It then moved to its current location and became the third Mokkiri Center of Hop, Step, and Jump.

This is an izakaya that is a must-visit when you come to Sapporo. It's open from lunchtime, has a wide selection of drinks and food, and is a very comfortable place.
I was excited and arrived around 2pm!
Bottled beer
First, we started with a bottle of beer, either Super Dry or Yebisu! "This time is special," said the waitress, and she poured me another beer! I was honored!

Boiled pork offal
I thought Mokkiri doesn't have any stews, but when I looked at the menu, I was surprised to see the words "Motsuni" (offal stew) on the main menu! I ordered it without hesitation.

The dish is mainly finely chopped pork belly with bits of small intestine scattered throughout, stewed in a rich miso sauce with root vegetables such as daikon radish, carrot, and burdock, as well as konjac.
Regardless of the taste or the part of the meat, it's no exaggeration to say that Mokkiri Center is the face of Sapporo's bars, so it's surprising that you can eat stewed offal even in summer! It's truly amazing!
Another dish I ordered

Hakushika cold sake Mokkiri
Afterwards, we enjoyed the usual fried food and seafood, and were then given sake, which is the origin of the restaurant's name.

Mokkiri Center originally started as a corner bar. "Mokkiri" is a word used in the Tohoku region to describe a "corner bar," and the word seems to have its origin in the "morikiri" (pouring a glass full of sake). As the name suggests, you can enjoy cold Hakushika sake at Mokkiri.

word used after one has been treated (esp. used after a meal)
The other dishes are also cheap and delicious, with a consistency that needs no introduction. They have Asahi draft beer, Nada's Hakushika sake, Hoppy, Denkibran, and other hybrid drinks, making this a great bar for daytime drinking that anyone can enjoy. They also have a lineup of motsuni (stewed offal), which is one of the joys of a trip to Sapporo!
