Fujisawa "Asataro"

Hisanobu closed in 2017, and my personal favorite, Ittoku, will close at the end of 2023.
Furthermore, three buildings, including the Fujisawa Meiten Building in front of the station, will close in 2027, and Fujisawa Station is set to be reborn.

Located at the relatively quiet north exit, the complete opposite of the busy south exit, is Asataro, a long-established yakitori restaurant that started out as a food stall.

It has an aura that bar lovers can't ignore, and although I'd been curious about it for a while, this was my first time going in. Oh! Inside the bar, the roof from when it was a food stall is still there, and it's so cool!

Inside the scorching hot store

Once you step through the half-open door, you'll find yourself in a scorching hot bar. Hot air blows from a fan, creating a subtropical bar reminiscent of Takasago Hormone in Chichibu or Gifuya in Shinjuku.

At this point, I decided to just sweat, eat and drink, and then head back to the hotel drenched in sweat, take a cold shower and relax. I switched into "bar sauna mode"!

Anyway, a bottle of beer please!

Black Label (large bottle)

I forgot to mention that it was a scorching hot night just after the rainy season ended. Every bite quickly restored the energy and fluids I had lost during the day.

Yakitori

For yakitori, I ordered pork head miso, pork heart, and pork belly. The size is just right and satisfying. The spring onions in between really encourage you to speed up the pace!

Sanryu Hoppy

Sanrei Hoppy, made in a 435ml mug with Takara Shochu as the base. It's incredibly delicious when washed down with a glass of Hoppy while drenched in sweat!

Eel liver and chuhai

I ended up having a second helping of eel liver and chuhai.

The chuhai is garnished with a slice of lemon, which is a nice touch.

Additional dishes

Then add this

Pickled rice with grated yam (400 yen)
Deep-fried tofu (400 yen)

Order this and finish off with a Sanrei Hoppy!

word used after one has been treated (esp. used after a meal)

After that, I went back to the hotel and took a cold shower to feel completely refreshed. Drinking in an air-conditioned bar is nice, but this kind of drinking might also be a way to enjoy drinking at a bar in the summer!
