Each izakaya has its regular customers, and among them there are occasionally black belt customers who act as boss monkeys. These black belt customers not only know about the store and its customers, but also the history of the town, and when you talk to them, they tell you loads of interesting and informative stories. Finding and becoming friends with such black belts is one way to enjoy a local izakaya.
Muroran, the "City of Steel"
Muroran developed as an industrial city with iron and steel manufacturing, shipbuilding, etc. The area around Muroran Station, where the city hall is located and the port, used to be prosperous, but now "Higashimuroran" is more prosperous due to its convenient transportation.
Muroran Yakitori
I don't know who decided this, but it is one of the three great yakitori in Japan.Muroran YakitoriIt is said that the popularity of "meat skewers" began when meat was served on skewers so that workers on three-shift systems could eat it quickly.

Higashimuroran "Toritatsu Nakajima
Founded in 1951 as a ramen shop in Muroran,Toritatsu" The Nakajima store is located in Nakajimacho, downtown Higashimuroran, and is staffed by three young male staff members who are open for only three hours a day, much like a koala bear.

As I entered, I was seated next to a man who was instantly recognizable as a "black belt" sitting at the back of the counter. By the way, I learned all of the Muroran history stuff I wrote about above from the black belt sitting next to me!
Bottled beer
I ordered the Black Label (medium delivery) from the A3-sized pouch menu, which is probably the largest I've ever seen!

The black belt master sitting next to me was drinking draft beer poured into a large mug he had brought with him and had his name engraved on it.
Yakitori
Muroran yakitori is characterized by pork, and the basic style is to have onions between the pieces of pork and to have mustard on the side.

The logic is that sandwiching the meat between onions helps it cook more thoroughly.
cold sake
A chilled sake made from Asahikawa's "Otokoyama" pure rice sake, loved by Goro from the North Country! Firefly!

chicken wings
With my elbows feeling stiff, I finished off the meal by slowly sipping on some sake while enjoying the chicken wings!

That was a delicious meal (said after meals)
Black belt dad! You told us a lot more, but I've forgotten about half of it! Thank you for sharing your valuable story until the end!
