Honjo Azumabashi "Meidiya Liquor Store"
The name itself seems to have a long history.Meijiya Liquor Store". The original liquor store is on the right, and the entrance to the corner bar is on the left. Founded in 1883 (Meiji 16), it is a very long-established establishment that has been in business for 140 years. About five years ago, they reopened the corner bar for the first time in 30 years.

Inside the store
It was a little after 1pm. When I went inside, there were no customers and the proprietress was running the place by herself.
Of course there are snacks, dried foods, and canned goods. Since they have passed the health center application, you can also get plated dishes, which is exciting!

Sumida River Brewing
A must-try is the large craft beer from Asahi Breweries' "Sumida River Brewing." The beer changes daily, and today it's pale ale! And a substantial (large) beer costs just 550 yen! It's the ultimate draft craft beer!

cold tofu
A whole block of cold tofu for just 100 yen.
When I said, "It's big," the landlady replied, "Because it's a pain to cut it." I like it! That's what I say!

stew
There are two types: stewed small intestine and beef tendon. Each one seems to be a pouch carefully selected by the proprietress, so you can be sure it's a good selection.
It's nice to have stews at a corner bar in the middle of summer.

Inside is half a block of piping hot microwaved tofu. The unexpected contrast between the cold tofu and the tofu is amazing!
Lemon sour
After downing two large glasses of Sumida River Brewing, I had a lemon sour made with Azuma Carbonated Lemon from local carbonated drink maker Kosuisha and Akashi's hidden gem-class shochu, Shiratama Shochu.

word used after one has been treated (esp. used after a meal)
Meijiya offers exceptionally good value drinks and food in this location. The landlady's conversation is also incredibly fun, and if you remember her name, you'll want to get off the train every time! I'll be back! Thank you for the meal!
