Kitakagaya "Oku"
This popular bar in Kita-Kagaya has been open from 2pm for half a century.

The previous day, I took a gamble and went there an hour before closing time to see if I could get in, but I was firmly turned away, so today I was the first one there when they opened, full of excitement.
I got it in front of the display case on the L-shaped counter.

The highlight is the blackboard menu.
The menu, which appears to have over 200 items, mainly seafood, is written in a nice font and small font size and covers the entire blackboard.

The view was just as spectacular as the view from the top of the large roof ring at the Osaka Expo, where I was until yesterday.
Highball
I was attracted by the 600 yen large bottle of Akaboshi, but I was worried about getting full, so I went for a highball, a Kansai staple. They offer large and small sizes, but I was hesitant and ordered a small one.

I feel like the Black Nikka characters are laughing at me.
sashimi
From the sashimi menu, we were served sashimi and ark shell.

The perfectly seasoned mackerel and the pleasantly crunchy ark shell add a boost to the highball.
rolled omelet
Whenever I come to Osaka, I always crave dashimaki (rolled omelet).

The dashi stock is well-seasoned, and Osaka rolled omelet is delicious! And it's the perfect size for an older man who gets full easily.
Tomato Chuhai
I don't usually drink much, but for some reason I was curious and ordered it.

I've never seen anything like this style before - tomato juice is served with a barrel of highball.
Drink the chuhai little by little, changing the flavor with tomato juice. As it turns red, the palm tree on the muddler begins to take on meaning - a chuhai that truly brings together all the plot twists. Amazing!

After pacing myself with the tomato chuhai, I had one more dish, the obanzai-style "simmered squid."
squid
This is an extremely luxurious dish, with sweetly cooked squid belly stuffed with koya tofu and the emperor part stuffed with squid tentacles.

Thank you for the meal
I finally made it to Kitakagaya "Oku." Conquering all the blackboard menus is even more difficult than conquering all the pavilions at the Expo.
I want to visit this restaurant often and feel the changing seasons while looking at the menu on the blackboard, which changes with the seasons. It was the best restaurant that made me feel that way!
