Kochi's long-established restaurant "Chinchintei"
Founded in 1959 (Showa 34), this is a long-established bar currently run by the second-generation owner. As the name suggests, it was originally a Chinese restaurant, but was reborn as an izakaya under the second generation owner, making it a total of 65 years old.Chin Chin TeiThe colorful, internally illuminated sign is incredibly cool!

There's a yakitori restaurant nearby!?
yeah?…
Nearby, I found a restaurant that looked like a yakitori restaurant with the same name but with "yakitori" and "nimono" written on it.

"What?! This is the only option!"
What's more, they also have the bonito I wanted to eat! The stewed mist made my blood boil, so I went to the Yakitori restaurant "Chinchintei" which wasn't on my schedule!
Inside the store
When you enter, you will see a large L-shaped counter.
Hmm? ...Could it be...?
Apparently they're connected inside, with two entrances! I feel like I've gotten a bargain! A large blackboard lists today's specials, and a pouch in front of me lists the regular menu items.

There's no stew! Lol
But it's okay! I came here to eat bonito in the first place! This feeling of trial and error is also one of the joys of visiting a local bar for the first time!

Alcohol
Enjoy a chilled Keigetsu beer from Tosa Sake Brewery, one of Kochi's most famous sake breweries.

Bonito sashimi
The chef will cut up the bonito that he has taken out of the display case.

The bonito is sliced thickly into 2cm pieces and is very chewy. Dip the satisfying bonito in garlic and sweet and salty soy sauce and take a big bite. Mmmm! It makes you feel like you're in high altitude!

Chinchinyaki
The piping hot Chin Chin Yaki is a fluffy grilled fish paste and yam. It is an original dish from Chin Chin Tei that can be eaten with dashi or ketchup mayonnaise sauce.

If you eat it with soup stock, it's refreshing like Akashiyaki, but if you dip it in sauce, it's rich like flour-based food. The flavors change so much that you'll want to alternate between the two, and the sake will go down even faster, and you'll want another glass of Keigetsu!

That was a delicious meal (said after meals)
This time, there were other places I wanted to go, and although the food and drinks were modest, it was a great bar that I wanted to enjoy to the fullest. Thank you for the meal!
