Nippon Tsutsumi "Maru Chiba"
Just a 10-minute walk from both Minamisenju and Minowa, Maru Chiba is a popular bar that is always full to capacity, captivating drinkers from all over Tokyo, despite not being particularly accessible.
I am one of those people, and it's a special store that makes me want to go there at least once a year, and if possible, I would like to move nearby and go there every day!

Today I started from my favorite route, Minowa. I arrived while glancing at the town's unique lodgings, which you'd never find on Rakuten or Jalan.

I made a reservation the day before and arrived 5 minutes before opening time.
It was 2pm on a weekday. Perhaps due to a sudden downpour just before, there was only one other group waiting in line, which was unusual. We were the second to arrive and got first-class points at the U-shaped counter!
Hoppy Set
The match started with the black Hoppy set.

In addition to the smooth taste of Hoppy, the stylish and cool service of "Yacchan," a lively Edokko (man from Edo) and a Maru Chiba specialty, is very pleasant.
sashimi
Maru Chiba is unique in that they are flexible in sashimi platters that can accommodate requests. I ordered a platter of sardines and whelks.

The contrast between the whelk, each with its own unique character, and the oily sardines was irresistible. I think it was a great choice.
The dish was topped with a separate dish of ginger and green onions and wasabi, keeping the dish fresh and delicious until the very end. I even finished off the radish garnish.
salad
Another delight is the combination of potato salad and maca salad.

Start with a neutral chuhai made with Kinmuya and Azuma carbonated drinks.

Eel skewers
Furthermore, instead of the usual two skewers, you get one half eel skewer and one half liver skewer.

This is extremely convenient for solo drinkers, and the reason for its popularity is that they will customize your order to a double portion or half portion.
Cod roe and cold sake
We have the cod roe, an item you could drink forever, grilled, and then slowly fade out with cold Takashimizu sake.

Checkout
I forget how much the bill was, but the prices are so reasonable that I always think, "Wow, that's so cheap!?" When I pay the bill and leave, I feel more than just satisfied; I think, "When will I come again?"
Maru Chiba used to mainly serve raw beef liver and sardine dumpling soup to workers.
Even though times have changed, this bar still offers pleasant service, unbeatable value for money, and hospitality. It is one of Tokyo's most famous bars! In the winter, we also recommend the stew!
