Shinjuku 3-chome "Shellfish Specialty Restaurant Hamaguri"
Located in a corner of the Shinjuku 3-chome drinking district, Hamaguri is a long-established bar that specializes in shellfish, as you can tell from its bold name.

Founded in 1971, it has only an L-shaped counter with seating for around 10 people. Make a pit stop in front of a tank filled with gigantic abalone!

The appetizers are a cold clam soup and various shellfish dressed with mentaiko. The clam soup is recommended to be enjoyed while it is still cold, before drinking sake.

The menu ranges from sashimi to grilled, boiled, and fried dishes, with a wide range of prices depending on the type of shellfish. They have a straightforward, strong style, with no animal-based dishes, or even fish. They have many types of shellfish that you might not normally hear of, and they have a collection of shellfish from all over the country.

All beers are medium-sized bottles and you can choose from Asahi, Sapporo, and Kirin.

I don't usually eat much clam meat, but these large clams were so appealing that I couldn't help but want to eat them. The meat was so good that I could almost taste the ornithine, and I feel like I'll be able to move at full speed first thing tomorrow morning!
