Enjoying a cold beer or rich sake while watching the scenery pass by outside the train window - "Nomi-tetsu" events, which offer such a luxurious experience, attract not only train fans but also many travel enthusiasts.

This time, we'll be introducing 15 highly recommended "drinking train" events taking place across Japan in the second half of 2025 (from now until the end of the year)! Bars are fun, but sometimes it's a good idea to take a dip and go drinking!

1. Echigo Shu*Kura (JR East/Niigata)

This is a sightseeing train operated by JR East with a sake theme. You can enjoy tasting five types of Niigata's local sake, live music, and spectacular views of the Sea of Japan. Original daiginjo sake, available only on board, is also sold, making it an irresistible experience for sake lovers. The train operates all year round, allowing you to discover the charms of Niigata in each season.

2. Fukuzake SATONO in Fukushima Station (JR East/Fukushima)

This unique event takes place on the HB-E300 series "SATONO" train parked at Fukushima Station. Guests can enjoy Fukushima's famous sake, local beer, doburoku (unrefined sake), and wine along with a special bento box made with local ingredients. Since the ride doesn't involve moving, it's recommended for those who want to enjoy fine drinks in the special space of a train without worrying about motion sickness.

3. Beer Train 2025 (Keihan Railway, Shiga)

Enjoying a cold beer while feeling the breeze off Lake Biwa is a Shiga summer tradition. Sapporo Black Label draft beer and canned chuhai are served, along with a special bento box made by the long-established local brewery, Mamefuji. You are free to bring your own food and drink, so you can enjoy it with your favorite snacks.

4. Kominato Railway "Beer Train" (Kominato Railway, Chiba)

An evening beer cruise through the tranquil Satoyama countryside of Chiba. Enjoy beer in a charming Satoyama Trolley car, surrounded by a fantastic atmosphere that is different from the daytime. As the catchphrase "Night Kiha!" suggests, a special beer cruise experience awaits you as you are rocked by train through the Satoyama countryside at night.

5. Yoro Railway "Masu Sake Train" (Yoro Railway/Gifu)

This cultural experience train combines Gifu's local sake with Ogaki's specialty, "Kimasu." Guests can taste sake from sake breweries along the line in wooden masu, which they can take home with them. In 2025, a collaboration project with a sake-focused illustrator will be held, allowing passengers to enjoy both local culture and fine sake at the same time.

6. Toyohashi Railway "Summer Beer Train" (Toyohashi Railway, Aichi)

A summer tradition, the tram running through Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, transforms into a "moving beer garden." You can toast with a cold beer while looking out over the Toyohashi cityscape. With affordable prices, this popular event has been enjoyed by locals and tourists alike for many years.

7. Good Wolf Craft Beer Train on the Blue Symphony on the Minami Osaka Line (Kintetsu Railway, Osaka)

This special event allows you to enjoy three types of craft beer from a specific brewery, Good Wolf Beer, in the luxurious space of Kintetsu Railway's tourist express train, "Blue Symphony." The combination of a sophisticated train journey and high-quality craft beer creates a special, extraordinary moment.

8. Kagoshima Craft Beer Train (Hisatsu Orange Railway/Kagoshima)

This event, organized by the Hisatsu Orange Railway, which runs along the west coast of Kyushu, allows you to enjoy local craft beer while feeling the tropical breeze. You can enjoy three types of local beer (including an Orange Railway original) from Hifumiyo Brewing and a special French bento box from Izumi City's Chef Kashiwagi.


9. Sanriku Railway Seaside Wine Train 2025 (Sanriku Railway, Iwate)

Sanriku Railway, which runs along the beautiful ria coast of Tohoku, is hosting an event where you can enjoy wine while taking in the spectacular coastal scenery. Guests will be provided with five types of wine produced by Umimachi Winery and a snack box filled with delicious local ingredients, allowing them to spend a relaxing time in body and mind.

10. Sunset Beer Trolley 2025 (JR Shikoku/Ehime)

An open-air trolley train where you can enjoy the sunset over the Iyonada Sea and the refreshing sea breeze. You can enjoy the special "Sunset Beer Trolley Bento" made with ingredients from Ehime Prefecture, and the popular "Kawachi Bankan Sour" every year. This is a special summer experience where you can fully enjoy nature with all five senses.

11. "Evening Cool Draft Beer Train Tour" using the sightseeing train "Tsudou" (Kintetsu / Mie)

This tour, which uses Kintetsu Railway's sightseeing train "Tsudou," offers all-you-can-drink draft beer. The tour starts at Yunoyama Onsen Station and is relatively affordable and easy to participate in. It's a casual "drinking train" experience perfect for cooling off on a summer evening with friends or a group.

12. Shinshu Local Sake Train (Nagano Electric Railway/Nagano)

This train event, operated by Nagano Electric Railway, is themed around the local sake of the Kita-Shinano region along the line. Approximately 10 types of local sake carefully selected from sake breweries in the prefecture are offered as an all-you-can-drink option, and a special Japanese-style snack bento box is also included. The train may operate year-round, allowing you to enjoy seasonal local sake and the scenery from the train window.

13. Konan Railway "2025 Beer Train" (Konan Railway/Aomori)

The Konan Railway's "2025 Beer Train," which runs through Aomori Prefecture, is a unique event where you can relax and enjoy a beer in a tatami-floored carriage. The approximately two-and-a-half-hour journey includes draft beer, sake, and a boxed lunch with snacks. You can enjoy an extraordinary drinking experience in a traditional Japanese space.

14. Yuri Kogen Railway "Summer Beer Train 2025" (Yuri Kogen Railway/Akita)

This event, based on the concept of a "running beer garden," will liven up your summer nights. Draft beer, sake, shochu, whiskey, and more will be served all-you-can-drink for approximately two hours. Enjoy the sunset with family, friends, or even by yourself, creating some great summer memories.

15. Sightseeing Express "Aoniyoshi" (Kintetsu / Nara, Kyoto, Osaka)

This is a tourist express train that runs regularly between Nara, Kyoto, and Osaka. It offers high-quality alcoholic beverages, including freshly brewed craft beer (draft), limited-edition label beer, wine, and sake from Nara and Kyoto. It's a luxurious and sophisticated space where the journey itself becomes the purpose of the trip.
