Just one stop from Ikebukuro Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, in front of Shiinamachi Station is a complex, narrow bookstore district typical of private railway lines. As I walked through the lively, nostalgic scenery of bustling shops and restaurants in front of the station, I gradually came across more and more bars.

There are many small, independent shops, many of which retain the atmosphere of the Showa era. It is quite different from the entertainment district around Ikebukuro. There are several long-established restaurants, but this time we will visit "Kita no Homare", which is celebrating its 50th anniversary since its founding.

Kita no Homare is the long-established izakaya in front of Shiinamachi Station. It was founded in 1973 (Showa 48). It was started by a bar owner from Fukui, and is a thriving family-run business. Although it opens a little early at 4pm,
