"Winter Shochu Hot Water Drinking Event"
KURAKARA Co., Ltd., which plans and manages promotional events for national alcoholic beverages, mainly authentic shochu and awamori, will be holding the "Winter Shochu Hot Water Drinking Event" (sponsored by the Winter Shochu Hot Water Drinking Event Executive Committee, sponsored by the National Tax Agency, and in cooperation with the Miyazaki Prefecture Tokyo Office) on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the plaza in front of Nakameguro GT Tower.
This is the second time the event is being held, and 25 shochu breweries from five prefectures - Miyazaki, Kagoshima, Oita, Kumamoto, and Nagasaki - will be participating.

The appeal of shochu is that you can choose how to drink it to suit your taste, such as on the rocks, with water, with carbonated water, and recently even in cocktails, and you can freely change the way you enjoy it to suit your mood or physical condition, or to match it with the meal you are having.
Shochu is a versatile drink that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, rather than just pouring it straight from the bottle.
Recently, many shochu drinks with fruity and gorgeous aromas have been released, and by mixing them with carbonated drinks, they are gaining popularity among young people and women who have never tried shochu before.
This is a big change from the old image of shochu as smelling like sweet potatoes.
However, to get to know authentic shochu, you really have to try it diluted with hot water.
In the Kyushu region, where shochu has been produced for a long time, oyuwari is a special and familiar way of drinking it.
Also, if you drink it slowly with a low alcohol content, the sweet aroma and moderate warmth make it easy to drink and it won't make you drunk. In fact, this is a recommended way to drink even for beginners.
The purpose of this event is to enjoy this kind of oyuwari.
25 shochu breweries from all over Kyushu will be participating. The brewers and brewers who actually produce shochu will come to the venue and create the perfect glass of shochu, just one brand from each brewery, perfect for mixing with hot water.
You can enjoy a single glass of shochu while hearing directly about the brewer's commitment to quality.
Only hot sake will be served at the venue.
This is an event where you can simply enjoy hot shochu under the cold winter sky.
A day where you can encounter the most shochu breweries in Tokyo.
Shochu fans from all over Japan will be gathering. Even those who don't usually drink shochu or oyuwari (hot water mixed with shochu) are sure to enjoy the event.
How to enjoy the "Winter Shochu Hot Water Drinking Event"
Admission is free. No advance tickets are required. Please purchase original glasses and coins at the venue.
You can exchange one coin for one glass of shochu. Coins can be purchased individually. At the venue, shochu will not be served on the rocks, with water, or with carbonated water; only hot water and pre-warmed shochu will be served.
There will also be several popular restaurants offering food. You can just come for the food. If you don't drink shochu, you can purchase coins and exchange them for food. Each food item will cost 2-4 coins.
Families and pets are welcome.
The event will be held outdoors, so please dress warmly.
