Mikatahara Potato Chips

Reservations for "Mikatahara Potato Chips Light Salt Flavor" and "Mikatahara Potato Chips Seaweed Salt," which are made using 100% "Mikatahara Potato," a premium brand of potato that Shizuoka Prefecture is proud of, will begin on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Koikeya Online Shop.

Since launching its "Potato Chips with Seaweed Salt" in 1962, Koikeya has been making potato chips for over half a century, committed to using 100% Japanese potatoes. Utilizing the technology and know-how it has cultivated over the years, Koikeya traveled all over Japan, hoping to create the ultimate potato chips using the finest potatoes. Finally, it discovered the top-class brand of potato, "Mikatahara Potato." Because "Mikatahara Potato" contains a high amount of starch, it burns easily, making it difficult to make into potato chips. However, by utilizing the experience, knowledge, and technology it has accumulated over the years, Koikeya has finally succeeded in producing potato chips that maximize the sweetness and flavor of the "Mikatahara Potato." Thus, in 2019, Koikeya launched "Mikatahara Potato Chips" for the first time exclusively on the Koikeya online shop.

As Mikatahara potatoes are in season in early summer, this product, made from 100% Mikatahara potatoes, is sold exclusively on our online shop once a year in the summer. However, due to its deliciousness and rarity, it has become a popular item that sells out every year.

"Mikatahara Potato Chips" are crisply fried without losing the flavor of the ingredients, and are characterized by their refreshing and light taste while still allowing you to fully enjoy the sweetness and umami of "Mikatahara potatoes," which are rich in sugar and starch. They come in two popular flavors: "Light Salt," which brings out the deliciousness of "Mikatahara potatoes" with just the right amount of salt, and "Seaweed Salt," which has a rich seaweed flavor that pairs well with alcohol. We also offer a "Taste Comparison Set," which allows you to enjoy both flavors at once.

Don't miss this opportunity to try the special, exquisite taste of these hard-to-find, top-quality potatoes.
