JAL is promoting an initiative to create connections with local communities through round-trip travel, with the aim of allowing passengers to experience the appeal of "Japanese craft whiskey" produced at craft distilleries across Japan. As the 10th installment of this initiative, "Ichiro's Malt Chichibu Single Malt JAL EXCLUSIVE 2025" and "Ichiro's Malt & Grain JAL EXCLUSIVE" will be sold in limited quantities on international flights from September 1, 2025.
The "Single Malt" is based on unpeated whiskey aged in bourbon barrels, with a layered flavor vatting in Mizunara oak barrels and other casks, and is priced at 40,000 yen. It is available to first class passengers and is limited to one bottle per person. Meanwhile, the "& Grain" is a blend of approximately 20 types of whiskey aged for over 10 years, and is characterized by a complex and sweet aftertaste. It is priced at 20,000 yen and is sold in first class and business class (excluding flights to Korea).
Furthermore, on October 12, 2025, a tour of the Chichibu Distillery will be held for JAL Mileage Bank members. They will be able to tour areas not open to the public and sample the 2024 JAL Exclusive Single Malt. Participation costs 10,000 miles per person, and applications can be made via the dedicated website. A minimum of 10 people are required for the tour, with 15 participants selected by lottery.
