Kikukoma Sake Brewery was founded as Sansen Sake Brewery in 1910. It joined Hachinohe Shurui in 1944 and operated as the Kikukoma Factory, but became independent in July 2008 and changed its name to the current Kikukoma Sake Brewery in November of the same year.

The company produces honjozo sake and junmai sake under the brand name "Kikukoma," and recorded sales of 151 million yen in the fiscal year ending September 2014.

Sales subsequently stagnated due to a decline in interest in sake and the impact of COVID-19, leading to the company halting sake production in 2023. Sales for the fiscal year ending September 2023 fell to 50 million yen, and the company laid off all of its employees.
