Shinkoshi Works Co., Ltd. has begun selling the "Slumbering Sake Ware - Nishikigoi," which is soothing to the senses as it features the swimming Nishikigoi, a symbol of peace.
The design was inspired by Nishikigoi carp, which originated in the Ojiya and Yamakoshi regions of Niigata Prefecture. The copper and tin-plated sake cup has been specially treated to change color in response to temperatures below 16°C, and when a cold drink is poured into it, the image of a beautiful Nishikigoi carp appears.
This "MADE IN NIIGATA" item combines Niigata's traditional metalworking techniques with the graceful Nishikigoi carp. The beauty of Nishikigoi carp and their tendency to dislike conflict also evoke the meaning behind them being considered a "symbol of peace."
The "Slumbering Sake Ware - Nishikigoi" will be available for purchase from May 2, 2025 at Tōjirō Knife Gallery, Imayoji Sake Brewery, and the Three Snow online shop. It is a soothing item that makes a perfect gift for a loved one or a treat for yourself.
