On Tuesday, October 7th, at around 11:20 pm, a long-established soba restaurant in Morioka City's Honmachi-dori, which was founded in 1618,Hashimotoya Main StoreA fire broke out at the restaurant, completely burning down the two-story wooden residential and commercial building. The fire spread to the adjacent building and was brought under control about five hours later at 4:30 a.m. on the 8th. At the time of the fire, preparations for the next day were being carried out in the restaurant's kitchen, and a report was made that "fire was coming from the ceiling."
Fortunately, no one was injured or was unable to escape. The loss of the store, which has a history of over 400 years, has shocked local residents and people on social media, with some saying it is a loss for Morioka.
We hope that the physical and mental fatigue of those affected by the disaster will be alleviated, even if only a little.
My morning commute route is to the Hashimotoya Soba Restaurant on Honmachi Street in Morioka City. 🔥 It burned down last night. It's a rare restaurant, and a place with history. What a shame. 😭 pic.twitter.com/SuoXPyQENF
