The reason why there are so many sakes with the name "XX Masamune" is that during the Edo period, Nada's "Sakura Masamune" became famous for its delicious taste, and "Masamune" became synonymous with delicious sake, so other sake breweries also started using the name. When the trademark registration system was established during the Meiji period, "Masamune" had become a generic name and could not be registered on its own, so breweries began to register their own brands under the name "XX Masamune," and so many "XX Masamune" names were born.
