The Metropolitan Police Department's mascot character, Pipo-kun, will resume production of stuffed toys. The factory that had previously been responsible for the production closed in March 2024 due to the aging of its craftsmen, but a new manufacturer, Medico Press (Katsushika Ward, Tokyo), has been selected. Mass production will begin in January 2025 at a contract factory in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, with the toys scheduled to be sold at Tokyo Metropolitan Police Hospital and other locations from April of the same year.
