[Product Information] Satsuma Shuzo's "Meiji no Shochu" relaunches

Topics.

Satsuma Shuzo has redesigned its authentic sweet potato shochu "Meiji no Shochu," which is made using a Meiji-era production method, as a long-term storage sake, redesigned the packaging, and began shipping it nationwide on February 2, 2026.

Based on ancient records from the Meiji period, this shochu is made using the traditional "donburi brewing" method, which uses yellow koji to simultaneously prepare the ingredients, and is recreated using modern technology. Characterized by a rich aroma, a subtle acidity, and a rich, deep flavor, it boasts a robust quality that could be described as the "origin of sweet potato shochu." The depth of flavor is further enhanced by long-term storage, and the aroma and umami are further enhanced by mixing it with hot water.

It comes in two sizes, 720ml (2,750 yen) and 1800ml (5,500 yen), and is sold at mass retailers, retail stores, the company's facilities, and official online stores nationwide. As a bottle that embodies tradition and technology, it also makes a great gift!
