TOKYO ALEWORKS (Itabashi Ward, Tokyo) will release the first in its new "Tokyo Sights Series" series, "Itabashi Hill Lager," on March 28, 2025. The theme of this work is Itabashi, where beer is said to have been first brewed in Tokyo in 1873, and the name comes from the fact that beer was called "hill" at the time.
The charming design features a humorous illustration by modern ukiyo-e artist Suzuki Hyottoko, depicting the story of a drunken foreign samurai traveling around the four lodgings of Edo. The beer is a malty, refreshing German-style pilsner. The series is planned to include 12 varieties, and aims to serve as a brewing bridge connecting Tokyo and the world through beers that tour Tokyo's famous sites. The unveiling event will be held at the TAP ROOM on the first floor of Itabashi Cask Village.
