The National Tax Agency's Sendai Regional Taxation Bureau is introducing liquor breweries in the six Tohoku prefectures.Tohoku Sake Brewery Map" has been created. There are two versions: sake, fruit liquor, beer, and whiskey. The Yamagata Prefecture version introduces 91 breweries, color-coded by region. Information on each brewery is provided with QR codes showing representative brands, labels, and tourist information, and also includes the "Yamagata" geographical indication (GI) mark. Paper maps are distributed at tourist facilities and are published on the National Tax Agency website. This initiative has been ongoing since 2013, and aims to promote tourism to local residents and tourists alike.
