Last November, a bottle of The Macallan 1926, a rare Scotch whisky that had been aged for 60 years, was auctioned and sold for approximately 2.19 million pounds (just over 400 million yen).
The whisky market has recently seen an explosive rise in prices. Whisky is establishing itself as a luxury investment, with rarity and quality having a major impact on prices, and there is a global trend towards growing interest in whisky made using traditional methods.
