Ranking!, a ranking site that investigates "interesting topics" and is planned and edited by CM Site Inc., has published an article introducing the results of the survey "Top 50 Popular Snacks! Which are recommended to go with alcohol and beer?" along with comments from voters.
Ranking! We picked out snacks that go perfectly with beer and sake, and surveyed voters to find out which snacks they felt were "must-haves!" We conducted a survey of 10,455 men and women (including those who did not answer the gender question) aged 20 and over to determine the top 40, and also revealed 10 other snacks. This time, we'll introduce the top 5 based on the results.
Edamame was chosen as the number one choice with 1,668 votes.
Comments from voters included, "It's simple, but it goes well with any type of alcohol. It's a simple, delicious taste," "Beer and edamame are the best!" and "It's delicious, low in calories, and highly nutritious, so I think edamame is the best." Edamame, a staple at izakayas, contains ingredients that help break down alcohol and are said to be effective in preventing hangovers.

2. Fried chicken: "If I have beer, I can eat as many pieces of fried chicken as I want, and if I have fried chicken, I can drink as many beers as I want."
3rd place: Cheese: "It goes well with wine and beer. It also goes well with shochu."
4. Potato chips: "Lightly salted potato chips go perfectly with any beer."
5. Overnight dried squid: "I like to chew it while drinking."
Following "Edamame" which took first place by a large margin, "Fried chicken" came in second place. In third place was "Cheese", in fourth place was "Potato chips", and in fifth place was "Overnight dried squid", all of which are must-have snacks to have at home and go with alcohol!
