Aucfan has released a report on whiskey trading trends in the online auction market. The survey period was from October 2020 to October 2024, and the results showed that Japanese whiskey peaked in October 2021 with 15,287 transactions and an average winning bid of ¥50,731, before declining to 13,258 transactions and ¥28,664 in October 2024. This suggests that the whiskey investment boom is calming down.
The number of transactions for Yamazaki 12 Year Old is down 14% compared to the previous year, with the average winning bid price dropping 17%. After soaring in price from 2022 to 2023, Hibiki 17 Year Old is expected to decline in 2024, with the number of transactions hitting the lowest level in the past five years. A decline in both the number of transactions and prices is evident across the market.
