Ueno Hill and Shinobazu Pond have been popular cherry blossom viewing spots since the Edo period. The teahouses of the surrounding area in the town in front of Kan'eiji Temple led to the current entertainment district of Ueno. In the Meiji period, it became Japan's first park, and restaurants and traditional Japanese restaurants opened there, but it was devastated by the war. A huge black market spread in front of the station, which eventually evolved into Ameyoko and the current drinking district.
This time, we will introduce some famous bars that retain an old-fashioned atmosphere in the historic Ueno, Yushima, and Negishi area.
