[Blog/Nikomi Mist] Nika Curry Shop, a friendly bar run by Tony, a Bangladeshi man with a Japanese heart

Blog

It's a 10-minute walk from Mabashi Station. The red lantern of the Nika Curry Shop stands there, giving off a unique aura. When you open the door, welcome home" says Tony, the Bangladeshi owner, welcoming us.

A friendly bar that has been in business for 34 years

It has been 34 years since the restaurant opened in 1989. The probability of a restaurant continuing for 30 years is only 0.021 TP4T, making it a remarkable feat that only one in 5,000 restaurants survive. In a tough restaurant industry where taste and price alone are not enough to survive, I truly felt that Tony, a Bangladeshi, has been able to continue in Japan for so many years because of his "human kindness."

It's crushed into bite-sized pieces and is simply delicious.

Grilled mustard (500 yen)

Tony said his most confident dish was "I want you to try the mustard grilled dish. After you've tried the mustard grilled dish, you can decide what else to order." It seems he wants people to eat delicious food in moderation. I was touched by Tony's love, as he was so considerate to my stomach.

Wow!!!
Is this grilled mustard?
The difference between the shape and the name is on a level with Hikaru Ijuin. It looks like a stir-fry, but it's actually a spicy bowl of beef and tofu soup. Apparently, a Bangladeshi dish called Dopiaza is similar. The balance of spiciness, sourness, and garlic is outstandingly delicious, and the dish is so appetizing that you'll want to order rice as well.

Deep-fried tofu

After finishing the mustard, I still had room for one more dish, so I ordered the homemade fried tofu (400 yen). The special deep-fried tofu was light and easy to eat despite its volume. I ended up ordering tofu dishes in succession.

That was a delicious meal (said after meals)

Within 30 minutes of opening, local men were arriving one after another, and the tables were soon filled with a party atmosphere. The atmosphere was lively, with people heckling and jeering while watching the evening news. It's a great place to meet up, with cheap, fun drinks. The stew I wanted to try was out of stock. I'll save the yakitori and curry for another time.

Regular customers even do the dishes and prepare their own beer. A beloved local, they are treated like family across borders, and it's a place where you can feel at home.welcome homeTony's words, "" finally fit perfectly.
