[Blog/Nikomi Mist] Hidden gem "High Rabbit" on Hoppy Street in the west

Akitsu, where the western Hoppy Street is located

Akitsu is a town lined with famous stew restaurants such as "Yakitori Nojima," "Salaryman," and "Harukoma." I was so busy looking for stews that I overlooked one, but there was an incredible restaurant.

High Rabbit

Although it's located in the rotary at Shin-Akatsu Station, High Rabbit doesn't stand out... in fact, it hides the front of the shop itself with vending machines and plants. The shop name is quite striking.

The current proprietress has been in the business for about 30 years. She took over from the previous owner.

"High Rabbit is the name given to us by the previous owner, so I don't really know where it came from. It's too much trouble to change it, so we left it as it is."

I love the landlady's nonchalant attitude. Apparently her daughter comes to help out on Saturdays, but usually the elderly landlady runs the place by herself.

I'm surprised that he drives there from Suginami every day! Even though I don't drink alcohol, I'm drawn in by the variety of dishes that hit the spot for drinkers!

Buffet style

There is no menu, and it's a buffet style where you can fill your plate with as much food as you like for 1,000 yen. If you drink more than two glasses of alcohol, you can have as many refills of food as you like.

The first thing I did was
・Oysters and scallops cooked
・Vinegared octopus and seaweed
・Shrimp chili
・Spinach simmered in soy sauce

Of course, the proprietress's homemade dishes, which are not on the menu, can be heated up, but they are also delicious cold!

drink

There was no drink menu, but they said "we have pretty much anything," so I started off with a medium-sized bottle of beer.

Dishes appear one after another

Freshly cooked, piping hot dishes appear one after another, filling the table with large plates.

The next choice was
・(Freshly made) Konjac, burdock and pork stir fry
・Matsumae pickles
・Asparagus
・Flounder kimchi

Switch to chuhai.

Hoppy at the end

We finished off with three glasses of Hoppy Black Naka. As it's the western Hoppy street, Hoppy is a must. It's nice that they serve it in a proper Hoppy mug. We finished off by nibbling on the large plate of freshly made Hoppy!

The bill came to exactly 3,000 yen including tax! This is a great price.
