What is "Sorachi Ace"?
"Sorachi Ace" is named after the place name of Sorachi County, Hokkaido, and is a hop variety developed by Sapporo Breweries in 1984. It was later introduced to the United States, where it gained popularity for its unique aroma reminiscent of cypress and lemongrass. Brooklyn Brewery (New York, USA, CEO Eric Ottaway/President Robin Ottaway), a leading American craft beer maker, commercialized "Brooklyn Sorachi Ace" using the Japanese-born hop "Sorachi Ace." Sapporo Breweries then released "Sapporo SORACHI 1984." Sorachi Ace, a legendary hop born in Hokkaido, first became known overseas, and has since come to be highly regarded in Japan for its unique character and characteristics.
