Iseya in Kichijoji made me realize that the comfort of a pub is just right for me.
Kishidaya in Tsukishima was what got me hooked on the depth of stews.
Fujiya Honten in Shibuya is where I discovered the joy of standing and drinking.
One of the bars that provided this opportunity was Kameari's Edokko.
What got me hooked on balls?
When you think of Edokko, the first thing that comes to mind is shochu highball, commonly known as "ball."
The strange amber-colored, shochu-based drink that all the older male customers ordered was a popular choice. When I first tried it, I was mildly shocked and wondered, "What is this?" But after two or three sips, I found myself completely drawn into the mysterious charm of the ball.
At the time, there were no places to drink "Ball" in the western part of Tokyo where I live, so whenever I had free time, I would go out of my way to drink Ball in the downtown area. It was Edokko-san who gave me the opportunity to get hooked on Ball.

Back to Kameari "Edokko" after a long time
There is also a U-shaped counter on the second floor, but customers drinking alone are always guided to the U-shaped counter on the first floor. The layout is unusual, with standing bars on the left and in front, and seated bars on the right.
ball
In fact, I have never had any other alcoholic drinks since coming to Edokko-san, and on this day too I had balls from start to finish.

Until a few years ago, it was served in a Kirin slender glass, but when I came back after a while, it had changed to an Oenon glass called ``Shochu Sengoku.''

By the way, Edokko in Tateishi, which closed in the summer of 2023, eventually changed from Asahi's narrow glasses to Edokko's original glasses. I was so obsessed with balls that I bought one because I admired the narrow glasses.
stew
When you come to Edokko, you'll want to try the stewed balls and offal. It's an all-star dish that includes large intestine, tripe, and other yakiton (grilled meat) offal, including pork belly, liver, heart, cheeks, and other offal. As you continue eating, a large piece of tofu appears, creating the "Tofu Excavation-Style Offal Stew."

Grilled offal
This order style allows you to order two of each type, with a limit of four skewers. A mix of tongue and cheeks with kara sauce. Sprinkle on some shichimi pepper on the table to double the flavor!
You can choose from regular sauce (sweet sauce), salt, garlic-flavored kara sauce, and Korean-style miso sauce.

stab
I ordered Kobukuro sashimi from the extensive sashimi menu. I could choose from garlic, ginger, or miso, and I was in the mood for miso that day!

Since I'm drinking alone, I mix Kobukuro with sweet and spicy miso sauce and green onions into a mushy mess and eat it. It's a perk of drinking alone!

More balls
Each time you have a refill, the amount of sliced lemon increases. Today's number is three balls!

Wow, that's so refreshing! When you come to a bar that got you hooked on something, you get an energy that's hard to explain! Rather than going to a power spot that you have no connection to, my power spot is a nearby bar where I can clearly get power from!
Motivated! Energetic! Grilled offal!
