Hachinohe, a city with delicious seafood
You often hear about "senbei soup," but when you think of Hachinohe, you think of fresh seafood! When you ask the locals, they say that fish is cheap and delicious.evil spirits" I was told to check it out, so I dropped in right away.

By the way, Hachinohe is a town where people have lived alongside horses, and horse meat has been commonly eaten since ancient times. There are many izakayas that serve horse sashimi and horse meat hotpot, and "horse tendon stew," a soup made by stewing horse tendon meat, is also a standard stew dish in Hachinohe. But that's all for the stew!
evil spirits
Founded in 1987, this popular bar is run by the proprietress, an amateur golf champion from the six Tohoku prefectures, and another woman, and is a gathering place for local black belts.

The name of the restaurant, "Kimon" (Demon Gate), was given to us by a priest at a shrine when he performed a prayer for prosperity in business, and it doesn't seem to have any particular deep meaning. It's a good name that's easy to remember, proprietress!
Bottled beer
No matter how cold it is, start with a medium-sized bottle of beer! Bottled beer and PET bottles never disappoint!

sashimi
"We've got some great spear squid in today," the proprietress said, and we went along with it, offering squid from Hachinohe, the prefecture that boasts the highest catch in Japan, and marinated mackerel from the brand "Hachinohe Maeoki Saba." All of this for just 500 yen!

There are two types of soy sauce on the table: Kikkoman sashimi soy sauce and the sweet local soy sauce "Yamada's soy sauce." The daikon radish garnish is also crunchy and delicious! I ate it all like a daikon radish salad!

As an aside, I once heard from someone from Aomori that "There's always one Yamada in every class." There are also a lot of Kudos in Aomori!
hot sake
Enjoy some warmed up Jo-Ku, a local Hachinohe sake.

Surf clam sashimi
Surf clams are a winter specialty of the neighboring town of Misawa. The meat, strings, and adductor muscles are cut into individual parts and beautifully arranged in the shell. The supporting dish of wakame seaweed is also exceptionally delicious!

cold sake
Thanks to the hot sake and the double door, we were completely warmed up, so we switched to a chilled Kameyoshi sake, a local sake, and slowly finished off the meal.

The bill
Within an hour of opening, the restaurant was full to capacity, and they were so successful that they had to turn away customers. When I asked for the bill, they brought me a bowl of clam soup and a slice of apple. The clam soup, made with clams from Lake Jusanko, was exceptionally delicious, as you'd expect from a thriving restaurant! They kept us entertained with Aomori ingredients until the very end. Thank you for the meal!
