Sacred place Tateishi
Tateishi is a town with a thriving bar scene, with the list going on endlessly, including the grand champion Uchida, Sakae Sushi, Ebisu-ya Shokudo, Toribana, Edokko, Ranshu, and Hide, all of which closed this summer due to redevelopment.
Local Chinese restaurant near the south exit
If you go along the tracks from the south exit, you will find Kenken, a local Chinese restaurant that is only open in the evenings, next to Oden Nikosaku.
The owner is also popular as a YouTuber, so he's used to performing for customers. Although the restaurant's name is Kenken, he is firmly committed to two different roles.
Bottled beer and Gacchan
This is the second stop after our neighbor, Nikosaku, and we start off with a medium-sized bottle of Togacchan (570 yen).
Gacchan (550 yen) is a miso stir-fry of pork belly, tripe, and heart. The strong miso flavor and the aroma of the tripe are addictive, making it a popular dish that will have you drinking bottled beer nonstop.
Meat and bean sprouts
Another popular dish is the hearty Meat and Bean Sprouts (550 yen). This one also has a strong flavor and goes well with alcohol. I can't resist ordering a chuhai!
Ramen and porridge set
I had decided to have rice porridge as the final dish, but when the person next to me is eating ramen, I sometimes feel like eating it too. So I ordered a set meal!
It looks pure white, but the flavor of the scallops will blow you away. The Kenkenkomen is a combination of local Chinese ramen with garlic and chive kimchi, and I was so engrossed in eating it that I couldn't think about anything else.
That was a delicious meal (said after meals)
I stuffed everything in and paid the bill. Rubbing my bloated stomach, I took the Keisei train towards Ueno. I think it's okay to end my night with something immoral like this a few times a year.
