[Fire] Large-scale fire hits historic Kokura "Torimachi Shokudo-gai"

A fire broke out around 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 3rd, in Torimachi Food District, located south of Kokura Station and built shortly after the end of the Pacific War. The fire spread to surrounding stores, damaging 35 buildings. Torimachi Food District includes Daruma-do, said to be the birthplace of Kokura Yakiudon, and the long-established eel restaurant Unagi Kawayodo.
