Reiwa 6 "Risshun Morning Press"
A special sake called "Risshun Asazori," a special auspicious sake pressed early in the morning that can be enjoyed on the same day, planned by the Japan Famous Sake Association, will be released simultaneously by 43 breweries in 35 prefectures across Japan on February 4, 2024, "Risshun Day."
February 4th: Auspicious sake to celebrate the beginning of spring
The "Risshun Morning Press" is a regional network empathy activity that is carried out every year on the first day of spring by the Japan Famous Sake Association (hosted by Okanaga Co., Ltd., Chuo-ku, Tokyo) in cooperation with cooperating breweries across the country and local member liquor stores.
This special sake is brewed with "even more care than daiginjo" to ensure it is pressed at its best on the day of the beginning of spring. The sake pressed on the morning of the first day of spring is then purified at a local shrine, and shipped as an "auspicious sake" with prayers for good health, safety for the home, and prosperity of business for everyone involved in the "Risshun Morning Press" project: those who make it, those who deliver it, and those who drink it. Furthermore, to ensure that everyone can enjoy it that same day, liquor retailers visit the brewery early in the morning, load pre-orders into their cars, and take them back to their stores where customers await. For 26 years, the brewery, liquor retailers, and consumers eagerly awaiting the event have all woven together their individual passions. This year, in its 27th year, the event will be held at 43 breweries in 35 prefectures across Japan, with the aim of "connecting" with loved ones through a single bottle of "Risshun Morning Press."
270,000 bottles shipped in one day!
Since starting in 1998 with just one brewery and approximately 4,000 bottles (720ml equivalent), the number of participating breweries and liquor retailers has increased every year, with 273,145 bottles (720ml equivalent) shipped in 2023. While similar projects have become more common in recent years, the Japan Famous Sake Association's "Risshun Asashibori" will celebrate its 27th year in 2024, and will be held at 43 breweries in 35 prefectures. Shipments of over 280,000 bottles (720ml equivalent) are expected. *"Risshun Asashibori" is a registered trademark.
